i'm off the deep end, watch as i dive in

writing a mini reflections post to 2019 music (lol went the whole year without posting anything here)

on one hand thought 'do i really have anything that i want to reflect about' since i hate thinking about work outside work (love work but why let worries intrude on your downtime when there's already enough of that in the rest of your life) but on the other hand i've already this year is the year of Doing Something, so here i am at 830pm on the first work day of the year writing something

have a temporary(?) resolution: do something productive from 8pm-9pm every day. across the year and after removing (i) evenings where i'm out with friends, and (ii) days when i start late because i was doing other things (like today i was playing dragon quest and joelle was watching, i figure that's probably 100 hours in a year where i'm actively engaged in something. could be reflecting/writing in a blog post, actually writing on ao3 (lol when was the last time i finished writing any fanfic, writing is real work), figuring out swyft on this laptop, or anything else i happen to pick up this year. blogging is obv the easiest cause i'm the only audience lol.

(what was the impetus for this? possibly bern's comment "elena's been asking me 'eh what's your side gig'" and i realised i've been cruising through life for the last year and a half. not that there's anything wrong with that -- i am possibly the first person to tell others that life is not a productivity rat race -- but then again i also want to known as 'the person who does something cool' LOL. even woon does something cool in her free time manz she draws?? what do i do zz)

oh my god the thought of productivity reminds me that i have life admin shit that i haven't done. man being an adult is hard i don't really want to spend time doing life admin like emailing my insurance company. and cleaning up my closet. which i need to do before cny.

2019 was a beeg year by conventional metrics i suppose -- celebrated first year at work, did big stuff at work, proposed and got proposed to, made a pair of rings, friends came back, grew up a little more. not quite as big as 2018, but not every year can be the biggest year of your life eh.

what will 2020 be? maybe the Year Of Making Something Of Myself. i've got this loose resolution that i'm hoping will hold mostly because it's quite easy to stick to. i've signed up for sat evening gymnastics at bazgym because i miss gymnastics (although i haven't exercised in months!!). i've signed bk up for healing paws so we'll see if she passes her behavioural assessment (in which case that would be my volunteering thing hooray!). now all i'm missing is (i) a Passion that i can turn into a side gig, and (ii) exercise/floorball/but probably mostly exercise

someone pls help i want a more exciting life but i also want lots of downtime and sleep

ok my nails are annoying me time to go trim them. then read a little bit of 'oathbringer' (didn't think i would like brandon sanderson when i started 'mistborn' but i am hooked!! on his fantasy worlds!!)
