their second song on the setlist was 'it's time' and within 30s i was crying
brought back to 2012 when i was graduating from rgs (most homey home a secondary school has ever been) but also discovered imagine dragons because 'perks of being a wallflower' used 'it's time' in their promo trailers
what a teenager-y time
i loved perks then and i still do (so utterly pretentious (if 20yos acted like that i would puke) but so true!)
brought back to 2015 when i was half a year waiting to go into uni
thinking wow where is the big wide world going to bring me next
went for imagine dragons concert really only for the 'night visions' songs but fell in love with their live performances of smoke+mirrors
kind of that in between period where i didn't really know who i was (was i an adult yet? was i more like a kid? who knew bc tbh no one knew)
and then there is me in 2018
half a year from graduating out of uni and into the rest of the world (oh no)
dragged yao xing to imagine dragons cause i really loved their live performances
imagine dragons has accompanied me as i've grown up
every single time -- i don't ever want to let you down, i don't ever want to leave this town
'it's time' is my anthem for every life change tbh
guess i cried because how often does something bring you right back to 16yo (answer: the older you get, the rarer)
somehow a very intense experience to realise that you are the same person that you were 5 years ago (?? not sure how to phrase this but it's like being jolted into younger-you and suddenly you understand what was going on years ago+connect it to who you are now) -- something like finding the threads that bind a story together
